Governor’s School is a summer program for academically &/or artistically gifted high school juniors. This is a residential 6 week summer program. The cost is $500. Traditionally, Wake County has paid half of the fee for all of the students they approve. Students reside on a university campus and are immersed in their scholastic or artistic program along with an enrichment program. To qualify for consideration, the student must possess a 92 or higher percentile grade on one of their EOC exams.
If you feel you’d like your son/daughter to apply for this program, please attend the information session given by the state which will be held at Meredith College, Carswell Concert Hall 3800 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh on Monday evening, September 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You’ll be able to get a complete picture of the Governor’s School and get answers to your questions.

Students who sign up in Student Services will receive a pass to be there at the beginning of period 4 for the 30 minute presentation of vital information. There is an extremely detailed and lengthy process for acceptance to the Governor’s School program and students must adhere to all deadlines for their application to be processed by Wake County, no exceptions!
